Artist statementWith my work in multiple mediums, including photography, film, video and installation, I hope to enable the viewer to look at what we think we know and experience it in a new way, to draw new conclusions or to ask new questions. My work addresses both specific current political or social events and more general concerns of how we navigate our complicated existence of love and desire, loss and devastation, birth and regeneration. I am fascinated by the fact that we share common experiences cross culturally from birth to death, generation after generation. With film and photography I feel it is possible to communicate without the barriers of language and connect on this intrinsic level. My photography generally explores more internal musings on existential concerns and desires, while my films tend to look outward to the faces of others and nature and cyclical events to question, seek answers, explore and be comforted by our common struggle. |
